I'm a 26 year old Irish guy hoping to move to BA in August/September this year with my girlfriend to live and work. I spent a month there last July and loved it.
Can anyone offer advice as to how to go about getting a job and getting set up with accommodation etc? Neither of us speak much Spanish. That is something we hope to change by spending a year or more living in BA.
We are both qualified to teach English but because we are not in the country and because of the time of year we are arriving we haven't received much positive feedback there. Are there other jobs available for people learning Spanish? We also heard that it is difficult to survive on a teachers salary alone, is this true?
Lastly, is it difficult to rent an apartment cheaply as a non-national? I know non-nationals are charged more for most things.
I suppose what I'm really looking to ask is whether you think it would be worth it to come to BA without a job, if necessary, in the hope of getting set up quickly when we arrive. We both really want to come but I don't think we could afford to have to fly home again after a month or two without success.
thanks for your help, Darragh. -

Hi Micaela,
Thanks for your reply. I'd love to stay in touch with you. Do you think it would be possible to apply to your university or similar universities for teaching positions?
I understand the school term finishes in November/December, is this the same for university students as well?
I have been to BA but only as a tourist for 3 weeks. I would love to know more about living there.
Do you think I would learn Spanish by living and teaching in BA?
Talk soon,
Darragh
