Undergraduate questions from UK
Posted in Austria forum 03 Apr 2011, 15:15
I am a British citizen (always have been). Please could somebody who knows about Austrian universities and the economy answer these questions?
UNDERGRADUATE STUDY IN AUSTRIA
1. How much (roughly) do student tuition fees come to annually?
2. How much (roughly) do living costs amount to annually?
3. Do the above costs have to be paid up front or when you are earning?
4. What tests are required to come and study from the UK/what hoops do I have to jump through?
ANY answers will be greatly appreciated. Thanks very much.
Oliver

Hi Oliver,
Austrian and EU/EEA students don't pay tuition fees for the minimum length of study plus 2 semsters.
There's an English version of the ÖH's (Austrian students' union) information brochure available
http://www.oeh.ac.at/fileadmin/user_upload/pdf/Broschueren/2
011/Studying_in_Austria_Web_feb2011.pdfwhich should answer most of your questions.
Kind regards,

Thanks so much for this link Doris and the website it virtually covers everything one needs to know about being a student in Austria this help is greatly appreciated!
However I have looked at the living costs and I see that the "Studierendenheim" usually equates to around €300/month, does the government offer support for living or what we call here a 'Student Loan'?
I really hope someone can answer me this question?
Many thanks,
Oliver
