Cost of living in Bahrain

Posted in Bahrain forum 17 Jan 2012, 04:15

I have been offered job in Bahrain. Basic - BHD 410 + Housing BHD 105 + Company car.

Is this enough for two people in Bahrain.

    Dear Mevan,

Since the company has provided a car & hopefully fuel, most of your expense has been reduced. Petrol is cheaper than water here, for your info. But housing should be a bit more. BD200 - 230 would get you a good sized single bedroom. To find one which is cheaper, you have to do a bit of running about! But surely you can find one! Hope this helps. Write back for anything more.

    Regards,

    Hi Abith

Climate & Living condition in Bahrain is just at par with other GCC countries, if not better (except for the "minor issues" which have subsided somehow)... BD900/month can be considered a high-end offer, but if it includes housing & transportation expenses, that would be effectively reduced into half especially if you are getting married ). Apartment/housing rental is a bit high, depending on what you standards are. A decent 2-br apartment would cost per month - between 180 (low-end) to 450 (high-end) depending on area or district. Other areas like Juffair and Amwaj would cost from 400-850... so it really depends on what you can accept .. but you can leave a pretty decent life here with that salary offer, even better if transport & housing allowances are separate from that figure.
