Difference between a work permit and a residency permit?
Posted in Denmark forum 25 Feb 2009, 21:56
We're writing a country guide on Denmark and have a little bit of a problem finding out the difference of a work permit and a residency permit. Is the work permit actually part of your residency permit (i.e. do you get a residency permit with a work authorization on there)? Or are these 2 different documents? Any help would be appreciated!

Denmark - residence and work permit

Hi Daniel,
The rules are very complex in Denmark. I suggest you take a look at the homepage: www.nyidanmark.dk
Shortly: Usually a working permit and a residence permit will be given at the same time (if you are allowed to work in DK - you will of course be allowed to stay here as well).
If you want to work in DK, you can apply for a working permit, which also will be a residence permit. It is always for limited time.
You can do the same, if you want to study in DK.
People from the Nordic Countries and from EU have special rules, not so restricted. The rules varies depending on the purpose of applying, so please take a look at the homepage.
If you have specific questions, please get back to me.KR, Conni
