Expat banking

It's not that I don't trust my Spanish bank, it's just that I find them frustrating. Mostly because I don't understand exactly how they work compared with British banks. This is probably true of most expats banking in a foreign country. I would say more patience is required in Spain with the banking system and beware of hidden costs, my bank were going to charge me to have a debit card, when I refused they gave me a bank book instead.
Overall I would say I am indifferent to banks, I don't know enough about what is on offer to take advantage of what they provide, I see them as a necessity, that or a biscuit tin under my bed....

I am currently living back in Germany, and I have to say I have had some problems with the banks here. When I tried to transfer some money from my German account to my Swiss one it took such a long time that I didn't have access to any money for 2 weeks as there was some confusion over the currency exchange. I find the customer service here is very good though.
Overall I do trust my bank!
