    Saleh...

You can survive here with English without many porblems. The german basics you can learn by conversation or havin a course. There are so many nice places over here, the "Dom", the parks, old churches, old part of the city... roman discoveries, castles... aso... I dunno where to start ;o)
Mainz/WIesbaden is packed with hotels. Dpeneds on how mmuch you are willing to spend. you can also rent a room in a small pension where you can stay fpr maybe 30 euro a night (or so). Living over here (internationally comapred) is pretty expensive. Aspecially in my area. Wiesbaden counts to the 10 most expansive cities in Germany. rents are pretty high, so are groceries, energy!!!, and other stuff.
Our public bus and tramlines are amazing. We are very well connected to other cities also (trains, bus, ...). Hope I could be of any help :o)

    Wiesbaden is great!

Hi Mira! I've been to Wiesbaden and Frankfurt last weekend and can only say you're right. The area is absolutely beautiful! Have you been to Berlin?

  • Just posting on here so that you know there is another person living in Wiesbaden here! LOL I agree with the statement before that Wiesbaden is beautiful. I have been to Berlin a long time ago and want to go back there again to see what it is like now. I wouldn't mind some info on Mainz as I haven't really ventured there yet.

Would like to know what are the main attractions in Mainz. Are there any nice restaurants, clubs or places of interest?

    sure

We have a lot of restauirants and nice places over here4. But you need to be a bit more specific. In the older part of the city you get good traditional German food, we also have alot of Chinese and Italien restaurants spread all over the city. As far as Clubs, what kind are you talking about? We have a pretty large RnB Club in Mombach, called Club XL. A lot of Americans go there. The same in Mainz-Kastel (Euro Palace) and Mainz City (small Club called Tarells house of soul). Also a huge mixed club with different offering (gith, rock, latin, oldies...) at diffreent weekends calles KUZ, right by the river Rhein. And a lot more. Lemme know aht music you're looking for and what audience... :-)

attractions in Mainz: Old part of the City (Altstadt), Dom, different churches, ruins from roman times, the river Rhein, behind Mainz and Wiesbaden... a lot of nice old castles... ASO

  • i live in mainz and truth of the matter is: it's a whole lot better than wiesbaden

mira already listed a number of locations.... i guess the difference to wiesbaden is that mainz is a "college town"; meaning it has a large university, which of course adds to a different "vibe"...

although wiesbaden is catching up pretty well, mainz still has a better "nightlife" (although not to compare with frankfurt)...
AND a much better soccer/football team

seriously, just come over and check it out... it's not even a 10 minute drive from wiesbaden (about 30 mins from frankfurt)

    aw, that sucks

I have to agree with Chris. I was born and raised in Mainz. It's a very nice City. YET, Wiesbaden looks nicer. I had to admit it. But it does. Even the Ghettos of Wiebaden are covered with nice buildings *lol*. Whatever both cities have their flair I guess, depending on what u are up to.
