Hi everyone, could you recommed me your favorite places which you would show to a tourist in Hong Kong? Would it be the Big Buddha? Or Po Lin monastery? Or something less known?

5. Wan Chai or Causeway Bay local Chinese open food market
6. A tram ride from Kennedy Town to Chai Wan
7. A tram ride from Central to the Peak
8. Hong Kong Park or Victoria Park early morning to see HK ppl practising Tai Chi & other Kung Fu.Kowloon:
1. Tsim Sha Tsui Star Avenue Promenade in the evening/at night for a view of HK island.
2. A Star Ferry ride between Central & Tsim Sha Tsui
3. Ocean Terminal & Gateway - The longest/biggest shopping mall in HK
4. HK History Museum for HK Story Exhibition

6. Herritage 1888 & Peninsular Hotel (the oldest hotel in HK), try to have afternoon tea at Peninsular Hotel
7. Go to West Kowloon Promenade (near Elements/Kowloon Station) & hire a bike in the afternoon (starting from 3pm) or evening for a city ride along WKP for a nice view of HK Island.
8. Take a East Rail train ride from TST to Tai Po for a view of new towns of HK.
8. Go to Sai Kung or Li Yu Mun for Chinese seafood experience
9. Take a no.1 bus ride from TST Star Ferry Pier along Nathan Road (longest street in HK) to Mongkok to visit Gold Fish Market, Ladies' Market & Flower Market & Bird Market.Outlying Islands:
Lantau Island: Big Buddha & a 360 tram ride from Tung Chung. Tai O fishing village & Cheung Sha beach
Cheung Chau: most robust & prosperous fishing village. Seafood is cheap & yummy. Some nice beaches. -

Hi Juan,
thanks so much for such a long list! I appreciate it a lot since they are advices from the local. I will definitely find more information about the things you suggested and hopefully manage to see most of them once I am in Hong Kong.

I had the same problem

Hi,
as I relocated to HK I asked myself the same questions....what to see and over all how to get there.... I didn't have a local friend there, but I was lucky to have found an alternative. It was a mobile guide called ask ting ting, it combined travel guide, navigation system and free calls and free internet. This was helpful for me during my first days :-) Now I rent it for my friends when they come to visit me here, especially if they come to HK for the first time, so I think this could be maybe a good general advice for tourists too.
