  How much in savings is needed to get a long-tem visa? Anyone know?

  Hello,

  I’m wondering if someone could give me a little insight on something.

  I’m a US citizen* getting ready to apply for a Hungarian residency permit and can’t seem to find a good answer about approx. how much savings I’ll need to show in the bank to stand a good chance of getting the permit. The embassy can’t/won’t give a straight answer.

  I’m self-employed and I’m thinking of starting a Bt. I also lived in Hungary for seven years and had a residency permit then. I hope that will help a little.

  *Yes, my profile says German, but that’s just my nationality/ethnicity (in part), not citizenship. "American" is not a nationality, of course.
