Wanting to move to Ireland and work there

Posted in Ireland forum 18 Feb 2011, 16:51

ello,
Erm - I am Lebanese, and I'm a graphic designer/Illustrator (I have a masters in Graphic Design) ( But since I graduated from Uni two years ago almost, I have been working as an illustrator for children books).
I have been wanting to find a work in Ireland , or even to the Uk actually.. Because the situation in my country is not that great.. And even the way things are .. Sorts of puts limitations to the creativity. And because I truly love Ireland and the Uk ( An obsession since i was a child. )
But I have absolutely no idea how to search for jobs from here, and what is the process or anything..
So please .. If anyone can help me or give me infos.. I would be more than happy :).

It is a life or death matter lol .. (In a way )

Thank youuuu!

    hi Sarah,

that is quite interesting...as most irish people are actually getting the heck out of Ireland at the moment due to the bad economy and extremely high rate of unemployment. Actually, I am trying to get a job in Dubai myself!

the job application process, i assume, is the same as in any other country...

    1. find jobs listed
    2. send application with your cv
    3. either wait and see if they contact you or send follow up mail!

certain sites are good for jobs:

    www.jobs.ie
    www.irishjobs.ie
    www.recruitireland.com
    www.loadzajobs.ie
    www.monster.ie

if you're not holding an EU passport it might be a little bit more difficult to obtain employment, than for eu nationals, but i'm sure it's not impossible...

    good luck!

Thank you - I have applied to a few jobs, the sites helped a lot.

I know that in Dubai there are plenty of job opportunities - But myself I would rather be living in a European country especially since that I work as an illustrator...

All the luck in getting a job there =).

I don't have an EU passport sadly. But I will keep on trying to see if I can get a decent job and move .

    Thank you again!

    Sarah.

    no probs at all Sarah.

it's funny how the other side is always greener...a european wanting to get out of europe and to the middle east, and a middle eastern person wanting to go to europe....

anyways, if there's anything else i can help you with let me know.

till then, good luck for you too! :)

Could you please give me more information.. Like where is the job exactly.. And when.. And what is the name of the center.. How much do I get payed.. etc..

Mind you - I am a girl and Lebanese.. So I can't just leave my country unless I am sure that the job is safe and secure in a way.
    Thank you:)

    job

    hi,

The job would be in Dublin, Ireland, to know if you would like this city I think the best is to get in contact with Lebanese people that live here, I will try to see if I get to contact some ok? their opinion might be important as everybody has a different standard of what is nice and safe of course...A lebanese family here might tell you different aspects of Ireland,

I will have my husband send you the info , after having discussed with you how to write the best CV for that particular job he will submit if for you and after that you will have to deal with the firm yourself, the job is a sales job in a call centre, the firm is not in the centre of Dublin but there is a tram that stops nearby, Dublin is a small city as a capital and safe, there are about 30 nationalities working there so it is very pleasant and you can make friends from all over the world!
why do we do this you must ask yourself?
lots of firms here work with a bonus system, so we help you to get the job by correcting your cv and preparing you for the interview and we get a bonus so everybody is helped that way, as my husband is in the firm he knows exactly what they are looking for, we have allready placed someone and now she has a nice job there, now she can bring in someone else and the story repeats itselfs!
it would be handy to know if you speak different languages?
you will get more info soon, meanwhile, have a nice day
