Rome forum: Living costs in Italy

Posted in the Rome forum

  • I would like to know what the living costs in Italy are, especially in bigger cities like Rome.
How much is the food? And is it expensive to go out at night, e.g. to clubs and bars??
    Thanks for your help!

    hallo

    hallo anneke
it depends on where you go. north or south: north is more expensive, southern italy less expensive (just take off like 20% of each thing in the north), and biggest cities are more expensive, so if you go to rome, milan or florence dont be surprised if you pay 4-5 euro for just an ice-cream!
it really depends anyway but i think you will not get poor since danmark use to be richer than italy, so you wont find italian life that difficoult to afford.

You go and eat a pizza+coke? 10 euro per person
wanna go to a club and have a beer? 3.50 - 4.50 euro
wanna dance in a disco? 8-12 euro.
i'm just telling you how much i spend when i go out, hope to be useful to you and ask if you need! happy to help if i can!

    hello Yari

Thanks for this information! In the meantime I got really worried about high living costs in cities like Rome and so on...I'm not sure if I can afford them, as I am a student and not working.
I'm now trying to find a smaller, but still nice city, with manageable costs of living...seems quite hard!

If you are looking for some place to stay, I can ask my friends if they know some thing not very expensive , as Rome is teribble about low salarie and expensive live stile.
