Job interview question
Posted in Luxembourg forum 06 Dec 2011, 15:27
Hi,
I have been invited to a job interview in Luxembourg in a couple of days. I was wondering two things, first, what is the dress code? Suit and Tie? or less formal is ok? To be honest I just dont have a suit, and have little money at the moment to invest in one for an interview. Then, any advice on Dos and Donts for a job interview from anyone who has had this experience in Luxembourg? This is my first ever job interview.

Karl even though i am not living in Lux i guess i can help.
Firstly, in interviews a suit is a must suggesting you are applying for an office job (IT,acountant, sales etc) and you d better invest some money to build a professional profile. It could be usefull in the future too.If i were an interviewer i would pay attention to the fact how you support the way you are dressed. In a few words i would try to mix the way you talk and your experiences with the way you are dressed and the job itself. This is the most important thing to an interview to be yourself and try to persuade him/her that you could be usefull for this specific kind of job according to your studies, employment history or your participation in social events and teams (since the job requires collaboration with other team members).Just be yourself pal and good luck -
I confirm

Yes, invest the money in a suit! Many big firms, banks and investment funds have dress codes and allow employees to dress down only on Friday. A suit is a must not only for the day of the interview, but also for later.
Best wishes und alles Gute
