Best moving method

Posted in South Africa forum 26 Aug 2011, 20:59

My finance and I are trying to figure out the best method to moving.
Do we
A: have him go first and we join him when he has secured housing and job.
B: we rent a place for a few months and live off savings until he gets a job. He is a citizen and I am not so I'd have to do all the fun paperwork as would my daughter.
We are just trying to figure out the best approach without long separation. .

The best way is to rent a place for a few months until he gets a job at least this way you are still together and I will sort out your documents for you.

    Yours sincerely,

Rent. But plan it well, have a time line for when things should begin happening, so that you can keep an eye on the progress. That way you can detect very early if things are not going well, and you can update your plan to make sure things work well/better.

    Nadya
Renting is not a bad idea however because you don't know how long it will be before your fiance finds a job you could run out of money. Does he have friends or family who wouldn't mind living with you guys till he finds a job? If he does try that because you'll be together and you wont spend alot of money, except on food and other essentials.

he has a job waiting for him. one within the family. I'm just trying to decide if buying or renting is best the issue also runs with the banks and the difficulty to start credit in SA no matter how good it has been in the US.
