I am planning to travel to South Africa, but a lot of people are warning me that Durban is very dangerous. Should I consider my plans?

Hi Floor,
I live in South Africa....yes Durban central is not what it used to be, it can get quite dangerous especially at night, but like anywhere else u can bad spots and u get good spots. Surrounding areas of Durban are ok. Unfortunately the hub is right there in Durban CBD. Ur other option which is great would be Cape Town.Hope this has helped

Don't consider your plans at all, Durban is one of the most beautiful cities in South Africa, crime can be all over the world. All you have to do is to take extra precautionary measures, the basics such as avoiding going to dodgy places alone. always make sure that you are with a friend when u go site seeing. -

Thank you Justin! The opinions are so spread, so that makes it difficult! Glad to hear positive opinions too :) During my travel I would like to travel to Zimbabwe, does someone know how the situation is there?
