looking for a job in Cape Town

Posted in South Africa forum 25 May 2011, 08:36

Dear All,

I'm a Swiss resident, I'm looking for a job and was thinking of "maybe" moving to another english speaking country to improve my english that's why I thought about SA.

Is that difficult to find a job ? Could somebody help me to deal with this or give me some advise ?

Thanks a lot and kind regards,

Sophie

    Hi Sophie

It will all depend on what you wish to do, i.e. what your background is and in what field you would like to work.

Perhaps you could share a bit more information on this. There are a number of websites where you can look for jobs, but if you let us know what you are interested in I can suggest some to you.

    Hi Sophie

In terms of work permit, the key requirement is a job offer. The prospective employer will also need to place an advert in a national publication to show to Home Affairs that no local suitable candidate was found for the position.

Your foreign qualifications will need to be checked by the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA).

In terms of job search, there are a number of websites. However, as you have never been to South Africa, I would suggest you come to visit South Africa and perhaps do an internship for 3-6 motnhs in order to get to know South Africa.

A good point to start is http://www.capeintern.com

Other than that, you can find many job sites for South Africa on the Internet.
