Language barrier!

Want to learn the language, but find it hard, because people dont have the time to listen to you in Madrid!
Is this because of Madrid or everywhere in Spain?

I dont want to insult people, but I just find it hard. If I try to explain something in Spanish, than people dont have to the time to listen to you and be patient!

Hello Anne,
I hope what I want to inform you is a great help for you.
In Madrid you can have language interchange for totally
free and everybody is patient, since most of them
are learners. The group is called: "Grupos de Conversación",
en Madrid. There are two places that are holding these events,
with a contact person and his mobile number. Or just search in
google for... "intercambio de idiomas", then select this..Good luck!!

Hi Anne!
I am from Madrid but I now live in the north (Asturias).
You are right, people don't have time for anything in Madrid ;-)
We can not meet to chat, :-( but be free to contact me if you need help with Spanish.
I have been many times in your country and people have always been kind to me.
Best regards,
Manolo.P.S. Let me know if you want my EMail address or Messenger Id.

Thank you for your response. Its good to know that I am not the only one who thinks about this in the same way.
Do you know where I can learn Spanish cheaply, because I am a student.
Thanks

Hello Anne,
I would advise you to interact with Spaniards. Do you live in Madrid? Get a job or enrol in a course (Not a Spanish language course. Choose a subject which is cheap, fun and gives you a chance to interact with natives).Once you have some knowledge of grammar, you should read books in Spanish and perhaps watch (Spanish or Spanish dubbed) movies on DVD with Spanish subtitles on.
I searched for FREE Spanish language courses in Inet and found this page:
ol.htm>
Look for lines with 'Madrid' in them and click on 'Cursos de Español para Extranjeros'.Lots of luck,
Manolo. -

Hi! Same problem...
posted by Ana Faria in Spain forum 17 Mar 2011, 12:33
Hi dutch girl, I do have the problem and is awful... That is concerning directions...
If you don't pronounce it well and fast people turn away, I considere it so unpolite...
Anyway I am getting use to, but at the early times it was strange...I am sure you will find someone to listen and talk to you (the talk is more easy then the LISTEN part), but you will some how manage it.
take care,
Ana -
be positive and open mind and i'm sure you will learn any language
