Official document translation
Posted in Spain forum 16 Nov 2011, 13:07
Hi everybody, I'm new here in the JL community and I'm glad to be here saying hello to you all :)
I'm half Irish and half Spanish (my dad is from the south east of Spain, a litle town called Pastrana). I was born in Lorca and my parent's and I lived there for two or three years, so yes, I'm half spanish. The thing is that I've lived most of my life away from Spain and now I'd like to go back there and know my birth country.
But I have some doubts, 'cause I have lots and lots of official documents made in Ireland and England that I think they won't be useful as they are here atm. So a friend of mine told me that what I need is to translate them but not just translate. I need sworn translations (1st time I realize that kind of thing exists).
My question is... do you guys know any place or person who does this kind of stuff? I've got no idea how these socalled sworn translations work.
Thank you very much

docs

Hi there
I came from South Africa and most my docs are in Dutch and English.. I moved unexpectedly to Madrid and no where did someone ask me for Spanish papers.
It depends probably largely what paper work you want to do? I would come to Spain and only once they ask for Spanish papers, ask them where to get this translated.
Hope you sort it out soon :)

Quite strange... I've heard spanish burocracy is pretty much strict with all this stuff :S thank you very much for your reply, Arien :)

yes thats true .... the burocracy is kind of crazy here. Like I said my paper work was easy. Trying to get a bank account was a nightmare. I think it depends on who is on the other side of the desk and how they are feeling on that day ... hahaha

I guess that getting a new bank account is kinda crazy wherever you go with this guys in the banks that only want you for your money haha. Thanks, Arien :)

Hi, Nina & Arien :]
I once needed some documents translation in order to be okay with english administration. I did It with this thing which is very simple and it worked great for me: www.juramelo.es
As in Arien case, I hope you won't find any kind of problems whilst your stay in Spain but I think it is worth you to have as much resources as possible.
You two take care.
Alberto

Traductores Jurados

Hi Nina, I know some translators who do this, they're Traductores Jurados. They can do one of two things, first do the translation and then stamp (swear) it, or they can stamp (approve) someone else's translation. If you need to get in touch with one then let me know and I'll send you their contact details.

Arien, Alberto & Sim
I can't finde the words to express how thankful and grateful I am to all of you. Sim, you're the last one that tried to "solve" my "problem" so also many thanks to you.
I finally tried Alberto's way and it was very very useful, fast and (what I didn't expected) cheap!. It turned out that it is a low-cost service :D. The system is still in beta and the agency who runs it contacted and advised me in order to be as much satisfied as possible.
Again, I'd like to thank all of you for your replies.
Cheers
