    Living in Basel

I will soon be living in the lovely Basel ,and would really appriciate any helpful tips to ensure I make the most of Switzerland and enjoy it.

    Fun courses
    Social groups
    Ski clubs
    etc etc.

Ps: Is it true that I can't flush my toilet after 10pm?

    Thanks!

For courses etc I would check the Basel University Homepage; www.unibas.ch, there you have sports possibilities, even you're not a student anymore! I do Yoga as well, some people say its the best place in town according the way the courses are given: www.yiengaryoga-basel.ch (althoug I have my problems sometimes with the whole course philosophy... )

I know several persons being member of the SAC Schweizer Alpen Club (if you like skiing)

And last but not least! MOst of the expatriate (specially British, American... well englisch speaking! meet at Paddy reilly's Pub ( near Heuwaage)

    Well have fun in Basel

    Cheers

    Stuff

    Hi Nicolas,

Thanks for the good advice, it's much appriciated. Having never moved away the UK before, it's a scary propect of moving to another country.

Although I've going to make a conscious effort to intergrate into the community, if the Swiss will let me. i'll try and stay clear of the expat haunts and see how long I last - this will probably be short lived

I was wondering how likely it will be for me find work given that my German is appauling? I'm currently based in the IT industry in the UK but I'm happy to take any work I can find initially, not fussy.Would it be beneficial to register with an agency?

    So many questions!

    Thanks

    Vanessa
