My wife and I have just returned from holiday in Budapest.
While buying some marzipan sweets one day I also bought a lump of a creamy white, hard, sugar based "candy".
Can anyone tell me what it is called and if it is just eaten the way it is or is it used in another way?
It is shown in the centre of this photo....................

Hi Ian,
It is called "krumplicukor" (potato-sugar). As to my knowledge we don't use it for anything but eating it as it is.
I think it is a love it or hate it thing, personally I find it too strong. :)
