  Passports of Expatriates

  Hi,
  There is a commonly prevailing practice among employers here in Oman (and possibly in most other Gulf countries)to insist on their expatriate employees to deposit their passports with the employer.
  Is this a legally valid practice? What are the relevant Govt (Ministry of Manpower- MoM) guidelines? Heard that MoM had issued a circular some time back stating clearly that the practice is illegal. Can any one throw further light in this matter and get a copy of the circular or tell where one can get a copy of it?

  Hey pls do let me know if you get any info on this, as i surfed internet -- didnt get any copy of the circular.... just got few other sites saying the same....
