Madrid forum : German bakery in Madrid?

Pubblicato nel Madrid forum

  • I´m in Madrid since 2 months now and I´m really fed up with the spanish bread (it is much too soft and has no taste at all)! Now I heard that there is a German bakery somewhere in Madrid, but I can´t find it! Does anyone know where it is? Would be great to eat some well-tasting bread again!

  • When in Mexico you need bring a bread because is worse than spanish bread. However there are many wonders like reefs, good weather, mayan culture, kind people, low cost to live, amazing beach, etc.
I live in Cancun many years ago and i saw the explosive grow of city so have opportunities to personal grow and great vacations too.
Hope you find the german bakery and have a nice day.

  • Well, spanish bread is worth enough, so I really don´t want to taste mexican bread! So, anyone has seen this bakery?

  • Firstly, you are being a little unfair on 'Spanish bread' as there is quite a lot of variety out there (especially if you get out of the city) - if you are talking about the typical 'barra' or 'pistola', you're right that it's rubbish. Try some of the other types available from decent bakeries, like 'chapata' or 'pan payés'.

German restaurant http://www.fassgrill.com/ with a shop that sells stuff: http://www.fassgrill.com/Tienda2.html

There is a German deli here: http://www.mantequeria-alemana.es/

Think there are a couple more and there is a specialist German bakery somewhere, but can't remember what it's called.

You can also get a range of specialist breads from here:

  • Perhaps I should go out of the city and check the Spanish bread there, but I can´t imagine that it will be better..
I really miss the huge variety that is offered at German bakeries!
So thanks for the links, I will surely check out these stores.

    Finding German food in Madrid

    Hallo Tina,

Ich will mein Deutsch verbessern.

    Totaly agree with you Tina

    Hello,

The bread here in Spain is really booring, a tip where you can get nice dark bread is in the IKEA food shop. There you can also buy a mixture that makes sooo nice bread and is very very easy to make.

    Regards
    \T

    German food in Madrid

@ Miguel: your German is really good! But I think as this forum at the moment is only available in English, we better stick to this language, so that expats from other countries can understand where to find German food in Madrid, too
Well actually I never tasted potatoe-nut-bread (Kartoffel-Nuss Brot), where did you hear of this?

@Tom Tom: thanks for the advice, I didn´t know that there is bread at Ikea! But aren´t the mixtures only Swedish ones then? How is Swedish bread?

I was in Germany for Christmas and when I came back I brought some really dark bread with me..unfortunately it only lasted for a few days..

    bread

    Have you tried Lidl?

  • Lidl? I thought this is a supermarket chain? At least in Germany they only have industrial bread - nothing compared to a nice piece of fresh bread from a bakery...

    ah

Oh, I've only been there briefly but I figured they might have a little bakery section like in a lot of other supermarkets.

What I've noticed in Spain is there isn't very many "Panaderias" as there are "Boulangeries" as in France.

    Bread in Spain

The problem is that there is no real "bread culture" in Spain. Most of the bread is terrible (even the white one) and turns into dust after a couple of hours.

    Brot mitbringen?

    Hallo Tina,

  • Why don't you just bake your own bread? You can get one of the baking-machines for 100-200 Euros (in Germany at least). Very easy to handle, you just throw everything in and the machine does the rest automatically.

That way you don't have to hunt through half of Madrid for finding German bread every day

You will need proper wheat though (integral). I don't know where to get this because the "harina integral" I've seen in Spain is a joke (looks like they put 5 complete seeds in on kilo of wheat).

Good luck on your bread hunt!!!

    the problem

Maybe your problem is not the spanish bread.
Maybe your problem is that you allways buy the cheapest bread.

  • Just found out that in the Alcampo they sell some dark bread as well. Unfortunately is industrially packed and not fresh - but better than nothing.

Btw Angel - price has nothing to do with it. I don't care what the bread costs, but all the bread I found in Spain is simply horrible!
