  Banking help: What is a legitimations-id?

  Hello,

  I have an account in Sparkasse Mittelthüringen and I was trying to buy some stuff online. But the site I tried sent me to another site where I had to enter a legitimations-id and a 5 digit pin number for my bank account.
  And well... I don't know any german xD...
  Where do I get those numbers??

  I also tried to check if there was any way to manage my account online in the bank website but it asked for the same numbers....

  Any help?

  German banks - PIN and TAN number

  Hi Renato!

  In Germany, you normally need two numbers for online banking:
  * A Pin-number which lets you access a code
  * A Tan-number which you need for doing transfers. This is actually a block of numbers and you have to enter a separate number for each transfer (the system tells you which)

  If you don't speak German, best is to go to your local bank and tell them, they should then send you both numbers by mail.

  In any case - be cautious if the system transfers you to another site to identification. This is not normal as you should stay on the bank's website.
