Is it acceptable for a foreigner to date a Chinese person while in China? Would people stare at you? My gut instinct is that it would be okay in the really metropolitan part of Beijing, but the farther you get from the city and into the countryside, though, the rarer (and less accepted) interracial couples would be.

It is fine to date Chinese. It's acceptability depends on whether the male or the female is the foreign. White girls have no problem dating Chinese guys and it is generally seen as a very good thing. However, foreign men that date Chinese girls are not received nearly as warmly.
