International wildlife charity Born Free is delighted to announce the launch of its first ever international charity hiking challenge in Kenya - Climb for Conservation.

Taking place from Saturday 3rd to Sunday 11th October 2020, the challenge invites walkers and animal enthusiasts alike from around the world to climb Africa's second highest peak, Mount Kenya, and visit the inspiring conservation projects supported by Born Free.

Camping under starry skies, the five-day trip will take hikers through rugged volcanic landscapes, forests dense with wildlife, glaciers and sparkling lakes, up to the icy summit of Mount Kenya. At the 4,985m peak, climbers will be rewarded with stunning panoramas of the African plains and views across to Mount Kilimanjaro if the skies are clear.

Following the descent from Mount Kenya, participants will have the unique opportunity to visit some of the Born Free-supported conservation projects in the area, which will benefit from the funds raised through the trek, witnessing first-hand the difference being made to local communities and wildlife in Africa.

Howard Jones, CEO of Born Free, said:

"This truly is a trip of a lifetime to not only reach the summit of beautiful Mount Kenya, but also to see some of our conservation work first-hand. It's the first time in years that we have run a challenge such as this, but we're excited to share our work with like-minded individuals who want to challenge themselves and raise funds to support our vital conservation work, while creating memories they will treasure forever."
