The Dominican Republic hotter than Spain?

I live in Madrid at the moment. It's so hot, I almost can't stand it. Is the Dom Rep even hotter?

  As we live on an island the Atlantic has an equalizing influence on temperatures. Thus it does not get hotter than 32 C and we have never had a lower temperauture than 19 C (at night). Mind you, this is Samaná, it gets colder in the mountains (cordillera central) in places like Constanza.
