Brangwyn Hall

Guildhall Road South, Swansea, Wales, SA1 4PE, United Kingdom Map

With pieces by Charles Ives, Karol Szymanowski and John Adams, this concert will transport you to America from Central Park in New York before the days of motorcars, to the shores of San Francisco Bay and blues tinged exotic landscapes.

BBC NOW will be joined by the acclaimed violinist, Bomsori Kim. A superstar in her homeland of South Korea and in high demand worldwide, this is a rare opportunity to hear this award winning soloist here in Wales.

Her breath taking technical command serves as a vehicle for expressing every nuance, from grand dramatic outbursts to the subtlest of lyrical inflections. In short, she knows how to make her instrument sing!

This concert will also welcome back BBC NOW's Principal Conductor, Ryan Bancroft. Bancroft was born in Los Angeles, where he studied trumpet at the California Institute of the Arts, alongside additional studies in harp, flute, cello and Ghanaian music and dance. This dance background makes itself obvious when you see him conduct: his rhythmic movements and precise footwork on the podium make him stand out amongst his peers.
