Ipswich Scout and Guide Gang Show

Once again local members of Scouting and Guiding will be performing their annual ‘Gang Show’.
Celebrating 85 years, the show has entertained audiences throughout that time. Based on an idea by Ralph Reader a leading west end choreographer, the show, with the help of a talented production team, has evolved into the modern, fast paced, and fun variety show. The sixty five strong cast is drawn from members of local Scout and Guide groups who, along with volunteer leaders, rehearse from November until Easter. Behind the scenes, there are many more people, the scenery and props are made by a team of adults and all the costumes are sewn by a small group. We have a very experienced lighting and sound team and they, along with a brilliant group of musicians ensure that the show is of a high standard.
So, what is a Gang Show? Already mentioned it is based on an idea by Ralph Reader and is a variety show suitable for all the family. There is no theme running through the show instead it is a series of song and dance items, comedy numbers and good all-round entertainment. Listen out this year for songs by Abba and Ed Sheeran, be impressed by the dancing of the girls ( who are not part of a dance group just members of Guiding and Scouting) and do look out for Robin Hood and his group of ‘men in tights’. If you haven’t watched a Gang Show for a number of years you will be amazed at the changes that have taken place.
