Going to China for one year, couple of questions...

Veröffentlicht in China Forum

Hi all,

I have a very intresting job opportunity which would require to go for one year to China (Xiamen). I would be for a German company which is owend by a German/Chinese CEO and has a sister company in China. The German branch is quite small, but there seems to be a larger chinese company in the background which is willing to invest plenty of money. I havn't seen the contract yet, so some things are still a bit vague but will be clarified in the next days.

I'm 52, but still feel young and flexible enough to go to China for one year. The offering came quite unexpacted, so I'm not really well prepared... I allready do my lectures about what to do in Xiamen, but of course, the most urgent questions are about money/insurances etc. Currently I work in Germany for a relativly small sized company and I earn about 70.000 € p.a. as an engineer. Of course I will ask for more money when I change my job. My idea is, that going to China will give me some bonus for that year, which is needed because I would like to keep my flat, cars, etc.. In my future position I would be responsible for the final development a prototype out of a project which I've done at my former embloyer. I would say, I'm going to be a kind of a team leader (like in my current postion), but I have no idea on how big the team is going to be.

I don't know if I should unsubsribe my residence in Germany for that year and what this would mean in regard to taxation, health insurance and so on.

I would be happy for any advice and promise to spent some Tsintao for that!

cheers
Dominik
