Is there anywhere I can take courses to learn Arabic

Veröffentlicht in Kuwait Forum

I have been here for a few months and would like to take courses in Arabic. I know of the Aware Center, but there schedule for introductory classes, conflict with my schedule. I live in the Jabryia area. Thanks

I liked the idea of this new book “Speak Kuwaiti”, unlike any other book, this book has been compiled and designed to focus on the spoken Kuwaiti dialect in the easiest and most interactive way possible. I have many expatriate friends who often ask me “How can I speak Kuwaiti ?” or “How to say I’m hungry, tired, happy in Kuwait?” Well this book is the answer

The price is 3.600 KD and can be found at Virgin, That Al Salasil, and Jarir bookshops.

I've had a great deal of success using conversationexchange.com (for several languages actually).  I have met 3 kuwaitis and 1 syrian (who has been in q8 for ~5yrs now).  It is a free service, and the catch is that I help them to improve their English, in exchange for their help in Arabic/Kuwaiti.Of course, anyone can sign up, and there are no guarantees on the partner you select (or who selects you), but you can select male or female (whichever you're most comfortable with), and you can exchange emails for awhile before you meet (or only communicate via phone/skype/other if you wish. For me, it's been a very positive means of picking up language and culture!  Good luck!Perhaps organize a study/conversation group?  That would be free, and it appears there are plenty on this site who may be interested in contributing.  If the time and location is good, I would certainly attend

@ Dawn: will google it and try to reach to find out some relevant to me. thanks for your advice but funny enough, i can read and pronounce arabic....................ah this is wat v being non-arab muslim can do easily as v learn to recite Quran in our early childhood. my focus is on spoken part of the language. all the best n enjoy ur break.
@Moonirah: thanks for the info u shared, u really know the roots there. however, i will still give it a try as ur notes have rather increased my curiosity to see the institution. but while agreeing with Dawn my basic and simple objective will be to learn arabic if they allow me to get in.
    best regards

your welcome Shakib, try googling it "TIES center in kuwait" and it should come up.
Im vacationing right now so not in kuwait.
From what I know off hand:
levels 1-4 arabic classes are offered, might be about 20kd or so not too sure.
Different day's for different levels offered so kind of flexible if you work.
They offer good classes and have some good teachers as well.
I'm still in the process of learning both Arabic and Kuwaiti too, also someone else mentioned some internet sights that help too, like madeena arabic, try googling it too and might be helpful. starts with letters and how to pronounce each one.
    Take care

    thanks for your time.

I'm not too sure what it is you said in the last post, but doesn't really matter. I was giving a suggestions to the OP on my opinion not based on who or what the organizations financial backing is but based on classes taken, that's it.
I posted my suggestion for her, and she can take it or leave it based on what she would like to do.
I'm completely aware of the the basis of Islam, but my post was not a religious one, but a suggestion for arabic classes that's all.
    take care all...:)
