Is there a particular brand of vodka which Russians prefer? Or are there different types of vodka made in every town and city?

  There are only two absolutes in life: friends and vodka. And the best times usually involve both ;)
  I would rather live in Russia on black bread and vodka than in my country at the best hotels.

  I read alot about vodka,but its origin is still a mystery.Anyhow I love Russian vodka.And I too read about Samogon that samagon is moonshine or bootleg alcohol in Russian language. The word "samogon" means "self-distilled," and can often refer to VODKA that has been made by either typical ingredients, like grain or potatoes, or dangerous ingredients, like shoe polish. While not all samogon is inherently dangerous, like any moonshine alcohol, it does have the potential to kill.

  Nearly 600 years Finland was under the dominion of the Swedish crown, and from 1809 to 1917. part of the Russian Empire on the rights of autonomy as a Grand Duchy of Finland.

  I would think that Poland would have better vodka than Finland, but I could be wrong. Olga, why do you say that vodka comes from Finland?
