Shantha Ratii Initiatives presents Swathi Thirunal Festival with Singapore Kairali Kala Nilayam based on the compositions of Maharaja Swati Thirunal of Travancore, Kerala.

Maharaja Swati Thirunal (1813-1846) wrote in several languages like Sanskrit, Hindi, Malayalam, Telugu and Kannada. We look to capture his prolific works in 3 dance styles. Artistes performing it are the foremost practitioners in each genre, namely Rama Vaidhyanathan ( Bharatnatyam), Gopika Varma (Mohiniattam), Shantha Ratii (Kuchipudi).

Through the spoken word and commissioned paintings, we hope to give you insights into the poetic excellence of his works and the process an artiste undergoes to interpret such works. An evening where poetry, paintings, music and dance will merge to create web of intricate designs of the Maharaja’s world.
