Since debuting this highly innovative show in July 2022 near Perth, Ontario, where brothers Peter and Tobi Kiesewalter (musician and biologist) first roughed out the concept over evening campfires at the family cottage during the Covid pandemic, THE MOTH PROJECT has struck a resonant chord amongst Arts and Science programmers alike – from the immersive Meow Wolf Denver complex to the Royal Ontario Museum in Toronto to the Santa Fe Botanical Garden in New Mexico. So, what is THE MOTH PROJECT?

THE MOTH PROJECT is a new 75 minute live multimedia and transdisciplinary (Art/Science) show featuring two musicians performing a diverse range of music – from Bach to Joni Mitchell to KISS to original songs – while a stunning visual tour of macro photography, slow motion video, and dynamic motion graphics are projected onto them, transporting them and the audience to a strange and wonderful world. It is about and inspired by moths with a spoken word narrative arc about one family's migration from Europe to Canada. It was created by the GRAMMY nominated producer Peter Kiesewalter (East Village Opera Company, Jane Siberry) and features Whitney La Grange on violin (Natalie Merchant, Billy Joel).
