- (7) Develop New MarketsHello everyone,welcome back, this is Judy Feng Liu.
Today, let’s talk about developing new markets.
You want to open one or two new markets after you have been doing well in your local market and you couldn’t get more from it.
So, you might analyze the markets in the other cities near your city. And then you open your branch office in one of the analyzed cities. But after several months, things are not going well, and you have been losing your money.
At this point, you might want to give up; you might think that you are not as good as you thought; you might think you can only run a small company and could not run a big one; you might think you could not develop your business.
Do not think this way! You can be sad and you can be upset. But do not give up. In this case, you should calm yourself down and think why the things in your new company haven’t been going well.
Make a list of the reasons which caused this setback. And then solve them. Remember, every problem can be solved; every setback can be conquered.
Trust yourself, you can do it, you can fix it! I trust you can do it, because I run a company too, and I have met the same problem, and I have been telling me every day: I am the best, I can do it. I will never, ever give up.
Tell yourself the same in a mirror every day, and see what will happen!

Today, let’s talk about finding your long-term customers.
When you open your own company, you need to find your long-term customers, not only short-term ones.
But, after opening your own company, you might find out that it’s very difficult to find a big customer, and it is very hard to find a long-term customer. So, your business might not be going very well as you thought.
At this point, you might be sad, you might cry, you might want to give up.
Do not give up! I run my own company and I have met the same situation. That time, when I was sad and wanted to give up, I cheered myself up, and told myself not to give up. So, that time, I firstly sat down and figured what I should do. I thought: I am an honest and trustworthy business woman; I am a perfectionist; I am doing my best to do everything perfect. Why don’t I get big customers? Why don’t I get long-term customers? How to find them? All the short-term customers are satisfied with us, but they do not need long-term services, so, what should I do to find long-term customers?
After considering all of these questions, I made a list. I wrote this down on a piece of paper: I know myself that I am a good and reliable business woman, but the customers do not know. So, what should I do to let them know?
In this case, you too, cheer yourself up and make a list of what you should do. And then do it!
Trust yourself, every problem can be solved! Trust yourself! You can find your ways to let people know that you are a good business man/woman who can be trusted, who can offer perfect services.
Tell yourself in a mirror every day:I am the best, I can do it. I will never, ever give up! And then, see what will happen!

Let’s continue to talk about not giving up.
Today, let’s talk about opening a company.
If you quit your job after working five or six years, or even longer, and then you open a company with all the money you have. But, after several months, things are not going well as you imagined. And then you might be very upset; you might be very distressed; you might be very sad, and because your business hasn’t been doing well and you have to pay your employees and pay everything for the company, so you might want to give up.
Don’t! Do not give up if you really want to do something, if you really like doing your business.
But what should you do in this case? I think at this point you should think why your business hasn’t been doing well as you had imagined. List the reasons on a piece of paper, and then find the ways to solve them.
I, myself, run a company. I have met the same problems. At that time I was sad, I cried, but I didn’t give up, I never give up. That’s right, I am a stubborn person.
So, that time I didn’t give up, and I knew I would do it well if I gathered myself together, thought harder and worked harder.
And you too, you should gather yourself together, and you know, you should trust yourself, do what you should do.
So please remember, say this to yourself in a mirror every day, and you will be successful in the future: I am the best, I can do it. I will never, ever give up.

Let’s continue to talk about not giving up.
If you are a new one in a company, and the company doesn’t train new employees, and there is no one helps you to know all the things you need to know, you might feel that you are not competent at your job because you couldn’t do your job well.
You might be sad; you might feel lonely; you might want to quit your job. Don’t! Don’t give up! Trust yourself you can do your job well!
Remember, you never say give up to yourself if you really like your job and you want to do it well! Because, all the problems in the world can be solved, no matter how difficult they are!
So, in this case, what should you do?
Firstly, you need to figure out what you do not understand about your job. Make a list of them. And then you can search the answers on the internet, or you can ask your friends or colleagues.
Secondly, figure out what kind of knowledge you should learn. Learn it or them after work.
Thirdly, say this to yourself everyday: I am the best, I can do it. I will never, ever give up.
