Was chilean pension reform successful?

Posted in Chile forum

Dear readers,

I recently came across the review of the pension system reform in Chile. According to the article, the reform was quite a success, but I'm wondering, what the inhabitants of Chile think of it?

Best regards,

Matthias

    Hi Lucy,

this is very interesting, I remember from a History of Economics class in my university reading lot of articles about the success of the reform and how it stimulated Chilean economy! Also I read that some other countries of South America were inspired by the success of Chilean reform. Interesting to read that from the point of view of local inhabitants it isn't so..

success?thats for the media, pensions are so miserable, even if u made a lot of money before retirement, im a chilean citizen i had to move overseas with my husband (german) cause it wouldnt make us any good getting old in Chile, even if we love the country and wanted to live there so badly.Chile doesnt provide any good reform for education, health or pension still.sad
