i think that is the culture difference, may not have anything do with the communism. (On contrary, the communism emphasizes women's rights ) In the last thousand years (i dont know how long exactly), normal Chinese always acted in the conservative way, especially about the issue of SEX. It is said in one dynasty (Tang), Chinsese behaved very open (unfortunely, i was not born during time, maybe any grand..grandpa of you guys once arrived China through Silk Road riding a donkey or a camel). XD
Friends in Germany think i am a open and nice guy, but when I went back to Asia, in China, Taiwan and Japan, people all believe i am too open, kind of "shameless"... (depression)

many chinese are shy, maybe the reason is that when they grow up, the parents seldem praise them,so much cristism, most time when they meet strangers ,they are just afraid the strangers don't like what they talk, they just look for the right situation to talk what is on mind.some chinese are very generous really, the new generation is very open minded not so shy I am sure

Primeramente, como estais? Saludos a la bella Iberia.

Well, to answer your question... Chinese are simply shy. Lack of openness in the last 60 years has cost them a problem in communication and extreme shyness.

This problem you will see it in males between 16 and 24 years of age. The sad part is, they are that way because they don't have any role models and even their parents are extremely shy people. This happened because of closure and the Cultural Revolution of the 1960s.

You get them much more confident in their 30s and they are more sexy, but you have to find them in the bigger cities.

Por cierto, de donde eres. Yo tuve hogar en Galicia, pero naci en los EEUU. Bonito dia...

    Daniel
