Is there anywhere I can take courses to learn Arabic

Posted in Kuwait forum

I have been here for a few months and would like to take courses in Arabic. I know of the Aware Center, but there schedule for introductory classes, conflict with my schedule. I live in the Jabryia area. Thanks

Hi, the American University teaches Arabic. You will learn the formal version that is used in Government dealings. Best course of action, from what I"m told is, learn it from a native.

As far as if your work demands you learn Arabic and how well you're paid? Not too sure about that. If work demands it they generally teach you themselves.

Best of luck to both of you.

The American University teaches arabic although that is not in Jabriya. The problem is that you will learn the formal version of Arabic, not necessarily what is spoken on the streets. My recommendation is to have a native teach you the language.

    Best of luck to you.

You might check with universities. The American University has courses. The problem with taking a course is you will learn formal Arabic but not necessarily what is spoken by the people on the streets. The formal Arabic will work fine for dealing with the government. Perhaps there is a native that can teach you the language? That would be my recommendation. Best of luck to you.
