Just thought I'd introduce myself. My name is Kate and I will be arriving in Leiden in August to work toward my MA. I like art, food, and wine...if anyone wants to hang out in Leiden I'm up to meeting new friends!

Hey Emily,
I just read your post as well as your profile. Have you lived in the Netherlands before at all? I will tell you that it is not easy to be able to stay here and get a visa. I am here because I am married to a Dutch man. I know that Kate is here under a student visa. Unfortunately, Americans cannot just come here and stay, get a job, etc. It's a bit more complicated than that. I'd love to help ya out in any way I can, answer any questions you may have, etc. Just let me know! :)

I think it is awesome that you are living abroad. I am also trying to do so. Any advice, or good sites to find jobs or living situations? Do you speak dutch very well?

I just read your post. I would love to meet up sometime, if you would like to. I know how difficult it can be to live in another country and not know anyone. I live in Dordrecht, which isn't too far from Leiden. Btw, I love your blog! I would love to talk more with you about it sometime. Let me know!

I also live in Leiden, I speak only english and have absolutely no friends here. I would love to meet when you get here. The only person I know is my husband, he is German. We both live here. It would be nice to make a friend.

Hey Kate,
I'm Jess, and I am also an American living here. My husband is a Dutchie, and we live with our newborn son in Dordrecht. Leiden is a great city. It would be cool to meet up sometime, if ya like!
