Trip to South Africa

Posted in South Africa forum

My wife and I are thinking about going to South Africa to see something of the country. What shouldn't we miss? We've been thinking about doing a safari or something, too.
I already heard several stories that some cities in South Africa are "dangerous" for tourists, like you're getting robbed very easily. Is that really true?

    Hi Jan.

Firstly, I'd say you're making the right choice. South Africa is an incredible country, and your biggest trouble will be fitting all the things to see and do into your itinerary.

I'd highly suggest: Flying into O.R. Tambo Airport, book car hire, and take a scenic drive to the Kruger National Park. They have incredible lodges and activities in the park. Once you've returned to Johannesburg (before exploring another city), you should visit the Cradle of Humankind. It's an eye-opener.

However, as I said, there are so many spectacular things to see and do in this country; you just need to narrow down the list and get going 😊.

    Hi Jan,

To be honest, it's dangerous wherever you go. However, when you're travelling, like anywhere, you should be vigilant, don't carry your phone in your hand around strange areas, etc. and you'll be fine. 😊 South Africa is an incredible country.
