Hi,
I have been warned that when in Geneva, crime levels can be quite high and pickpockets are everywhere? Is this true? To what extent is this a huge problem? I'd like to know so I can be more aware when I am there.

I come from NY City and lived in GVA for at least 10 years. Most places in GVA are nice and very tourist friendly, but beware. There are some neighborhoods that you should not be walking in late at night. Kids can pull guns on you, and most youngsters carry knives. Overall walk were there is police and don't answer any insults because they could easily get you in a lot of trouble. Also, recently there have been young gangs trying to look cool and start the East coast/West coast feud in Geneva. Obviously I think its ridiculous but they take it pretty seriously. Don't throw up any gang signs or wear any gang affiliated clothing-jewels. That is all. Enjoy your trip, Geneva can also be a beautiful city!!
