Cost of living in Dubai

Posted in Dubai forum

Hello,

I was offered a job as a Tours Executive at a travel agency in Dubai.
Salary is 7.500 AED/month. No benefits.
I speak 7 languages, I am graduated in Management and I also have a Master in Strategy and another one in Hotel Management. 9 years experience in tourism company. Last job: Project Manager for a tourism company in Portugal.
I'm 27 and going alone.
I would have to have the opinion of someone living in Dubai. I guess this kind of money isn't enough not even to survive but the company is arguing it is good money.
Is it possible to live decently + save money with this kind of salary??

I would really appreciate an answer since I have to give some answer as quickly as posible.

Thank you very much.

Regards,
Vanessa

I have a 3 yr. old kid. What is a studio kind of apartment. And is it easy if I have an International Driving license. Can you give me more details about the weather and which area I should find a home. My hubby's office will be in some area starting from Jabenhalli like that not sure. And how far can the home be from office.

I wrote that you may save dirhams 500 to 1000 if you are frugal. I am not saying that you should earn 500 to 1000 dirhams.

    Hi Vanessa,

7500 is nowhere near enough to have a good life in Dubai (and save money)! You should be looking for minumum of 15000 AED otherwise you will not be able to live and save.

    Good luck!

If you are single and if you can economise you may save 500 to 1000 dirhams per month. With your background you deserve a higher salary. If you get your qualifications attested by the concerned departments in your country plus the consulate or embassy of UAE in your country you may earn more. all the best. any more questions ? please free to ask.
    regards.

    Ola Vanessa,

When I read your post I thought I have to reply to let you know that what the company is offering you is very samall money. For that money you will only be able to rent a room (if not a shared room) and you will not save anything. Life in Dubai is nice but you need to take your time and find more offers to suit your experience and knowledge of languages. There is many open positions in your field from what i saw in papers.
Please feel free to contact me on my email address.

    Ate ja!

Hi Vanessa...Definitely the salary offered 2 u is not enough keeping in view ur qualifications n experience n u cannot afford to have a decent life in that money, forget about saving anything. Your targeted salary should be somewhere b/w 12-15 K if u want to have a decent living in Dubai.

3.5-5.5 K for Rent for 01 bedroom apartment (depending on where u want 2 live)
1.5-2.5 K for car (depending on what type of car u want) it can cost u more if u go for a luxuary car like BMW etc.
    2-3 K for grocery/food

plus other minor expenses like fuel, utility bills, phone/internet bill etc.

Try to renegotiate the pay or try ur luck in Hotel industry. there r many good hotels here.

    Wish u Good luck n c u in Dubai.
