3rd Annual African Film Festival
The Canadian Film Institute (CFI), in collaboration with Carleton University's Film Studies Department and Institute of African Studies presents the 3rd annual African Film Festival of Ottawa (AFFO), running from Saturday, October 28th to Sunday, November 5th at Carleton University's Richcraft Hall Theatre.
AFFO aims to promote African cinema and create a gateway into the vibrant art and culture of the continent. The Festival films have been carefully curated by film scholar Aboubakar Sanogo, chosen from his restoration project with legendary American director Martin Scorsese (Raging Bull, Goodfellas, The Wolf of Wall Street, The Departed). The African Film Heritage Project, a joint program from UNESCO, Martin Scorsese's Film Foundation World Cinema Project and the Fédération Panafricaine des Cinéasates, aims to preserve culturally significant movies and allow more Africans to see themselves on the silver screen.
