Bbc Now In Concert: Visions Of Italy

The programme includes works by Busoni, Bellini, Mendelssohn plus Grace Williams' rhapsodic Violin Concerto, performed by the award-winning violinist, Geneva Lewis.

Taking place on Saturday 16 September at 7:30 PM, the concert promises a taste of Mediterranean sunshine and tickets cost £10 and £5 for concessions/under 26's.

The event pays homage to Mozart's comic operas through Busoni's beloved 'Lustspiel Overture' blending Mozartian drama and overflowing melody with high-romantic orchestration.

Bellini's Bel Canto opera 'Norma,' set in Roman Gaul, shares the stage with Mendelssohn's ‘Italian Symphony', inspired by his travels through Italy in 1831. The symphony beautifully encapsulates the Mediterranean art, architecture and landscapes that left a lasting impression on Mendelssohn during his journey.
