The newly sober group focus on writing a book that will eventually carry a message of hope to the hopeless alcoholics around the world. His wife Lois is working and coming home to she knows not how many drunks, expecting to be fed and looked after. She has some help though, as some of the wives of these hopeless cases begin to gather in her kitchen. This is the story of the early members of Alcoholics Anonymous struggling with sobriety while writing a book that was to give a name to the fledgling organisation. The book Alcoholics Anonymous, affectionately known as The Big Book.
