Blending traditional playing styles with improvisation, singing and body percussion, his energised performances bring together classical and world music in a unique fusion.

Abel is coming to Cardiff on 8 June where he'll be showcasing his music at a concert with BBC National Orchestra of Wales at BBC Hoddinott Hall ( Wales Millennium Centre). He will be joined by Simo Lagnawi on guembri - the three-stringed Moroccan lute - and by other members of his own trio, Chesaba, for a concert covering typically broad musical ground.

In May 2021, he was announced as an inaugural Power Up Music Creator participant in PRS Foundation's new initiative to address anti-Black racism and racial disparities in the music sector and in July 2021, he received a Paul Hamlyn Foundation award for his compositional work.

Sassy Hicks, Head of Marketing at BBC NOW said, "We last performed with Abel at the BBC Proms in 2021, and his electrifying performance had everyone dancing in the aisles at The Royal Albert Hall! It was one of those concerts that you never forget, and Abel's energy, charisma and passion are infectious. Audiences here in Wales are in for a real treat! If you've never experienced a classical and world music fusion concert before, you won't want to miss this."
