“Staggering technical prowess, a sense of command, and depth of expression." — The Washington Post
In celebration of the 150th anniversary of Rachmaninoff’s birth, the FSO and the Center for the Arts are proud to co-present the brilliant virtuosity of pianist George Li. Described by The New York Times as a “musical powerhouse,” George won the Silver Medal at the 2015 International Tchaikovsky Competition when he was only 19 and was named a recipient of an Avery Fisher Career Grant the following year. His performances of Rachmaninoff are acclaimed for their "sheer precision" and "sense of discovery, as if the music was quite new" (Bachtrack).
Li has rapidly established a major international reputation as he performs regularly with some of the world’s leading orchestras and conductors, such as Gustavo Dudamel, James Gaffigan, Valery Gergiev, Gustavo Gimeno, Manfred Honeck, Andrés Orozco-Estrada, Kirill Petrenko, David Robertson, Leonard Slatkin, Yuri Temirkanov, Vladimir Spivakov, Michael Tilson Thomas, Long Yu, and Xian Zhang.
