In 2020, the Western New York Land Conservancy community is raising money to purchase and save the College Lodge Forest in Chautauqua County. This pristine forest is home to one of the largest stands of old-growth forest remaining in Western New York. Old-growth forests are some of the most biologically diverse habitats in the world, and they play a crucial role in slowing down climate change. With many of our planet's old-growth forests threatened by deforestation, protecting stands of old-growth here at home is vital for the climate health of our planet-and for us.

Join us on Thursday, October 29th from 7-8 pm for a free online event. Joan Maloof, writer, professor emeritus, and founder of the Old-Growth Forest Network will discuss her book Nature's Temples: The Complex World of Old-Growth Forests. You’ll also hear from Jajean Rose-Burney, Deputy Executive Director of the Land Conservancy, about how you can save the College Lodge Forest.
