We are excited to announce an online offering by the Worcester Children's Chorus for fall 2020. We hope to resume our in-person rehearsals for the second semester beginning in January.

Choristers will journey through a 10-week ear training program based around a workbook developed by the Toronto Children's Chorus entitled “A Young Singer's Journey.” Other supplements and enrichment will also be included.

With weekly guided lessons from the Worcester Children's Chorus artistic staff, students will master the basic components of musical literacy including: music theory, ear training, and sight-singing.

Movable do solfege (do, re, mi) will be used to challenge students at every level of experience to improve their relative pitch, rhythm, intonation, breathing, posture, vowel formation, and sight singing. Through participation in this program, students will become more independent and confident musicians. Students will also be able to share their progress and receive individual feedback with WCC faculty via online platforms.

Middle and high school singers will also rehearse choral repertoire and receive individual vocal instruction.

While the fall of 2020 presents some unique challenges, this program is a unique opportunity for all of our singers to improve their musicianship. The arts are more important than ever as we navigate COVID-19 and its many disruptions. This online program will allow our WCC family to keep singing and stay connected!
