About me:
In Uganda and in many rural communities, disability is looked at, as a bad omen and many families have separated due to disability.. Masaka Vocational and Rehabilitation Centre (MVRC), was opened in May, 2000. The centre provides a one year free vocational training to young people with disabilities (15 – 25 years) in carpentry, leatherwork, metalwork, computer studies and screen printing Masaka Vocational and Rehabilitation Centre exists to provide care, rehabilitation and support to children and youth with disabilities by facilitating vocational education, good nutrition, counseling, healthcare, income generating activities & disability awareness MVRC has a full pastoral programme including health care, social skills, HIV/AIDS, disability awareness and business skills. This enables our students gain self-respect, respect for others and personal esteem as practical skills MVRC gets funding from Masaka District Local Government, USDC and sale of products made by young people with disabilities. However, the funds are very inadequate and we operate below average which calls for strategies to increase on funding basket
