Qi’niang Mountain, located in Nan’ao Town, Shenzhen, is the main peak of South Island in Dapeng Peninsula. It rises 869 meters above sea level, and is the second highest peak of the city. The massif is in picturesque disorder with various strikingly outstanding peaks, exotic stones and grottoes. Dense forest and abundant wild animal resources add radiance and beauty to each other.
Besides its verdant hills, Qi’niang Mountain is also famous for its various legends and stories. One says that Qi’niang Mountain is Dapeng Mountain. Seven fairies were transformed into seven peaks by the command of Heaven, because they were unwilling to leave the beautiful mountain. Another says that Qi’niang Mountain is Chu’niang Mountain. Since there were tuber crops, cassavas, taros, yam and everything, everyone gathering crops in the mountain would come back fully loaded.
The municipal government has decided to make Qi’niang Mountain a country park for conservation-oriented development, and fully strengthen its active role in urban ecological environment.
