    Sure.. many French people don't speak English and insist on speaking French with foreigners but isn't that also the same way when foreigners go to English speaking countries??

    Sorry but as an anglophone myself I'm only too aware that we in general are quite lazy when it comes to languages.. or at least English speakers have the advantage of knowing that anywhere in the world you go, someone around speaks English. I also see this is a disadvantage or at least as a loss of opportunity from our side.

    The only true way to learn a foreign language is through necessity and once you climb that huge mountain of feeling stupid and awkward and stumbling over your limited vocabulary... it's a wonderful feeling and so worth it ;)
