visit to Berne

Publicado en Foro de Berna

I will be visiting Berne this March for the purpose of pursuing my family roots. My great great grandfather Blaser immigrated from Switzerland to America. According to family records he came from a small village just east of Berne, called Arni. When I come to Berne I want to go to Arni and see if I can find people I am related to. But I do not know the local language and am wondering if I can hire a translator to go with me. One of my American relatives visited Arni last year but could not communicate with any of the villagers. Any suggestions?

    Brando,

I'm sorry I missed you on the 23rd. I'm actually out of town right now spending Christmas with my in-laws in Georgia. I have limited internet access here. We will be back in Illinois tomorrow night, 27 Dec. I do not have yahoo messenger but I do have AOL instant messenger. I also have a web cam that we use for video chats with our daughter and our son, both of whom live some distance from us. I don't suppose you have a web cam? Maybe when we get back to Illinois we can do a video chat or an instant messenger chat. How about Sunday afternoon? I accepted your friend invitation. Thanks. I will try to invite you as a friend. Like I said, I'm brand new to this.

I will not be able to get on the internet again until we get back to Illinois.

    Dennis
